5 styles to light your night
If you haven’t already planned your look for New Year’s Eve, it’s Team Ayva to the rescue! No matter what your plans—from a high-energy night out to a cuddly night in—these are the styles we’d want to be in when the clock strikes 12.
Lately I have been feeling like we are in an age of information overload. With so much available all around us—the accessibility is a good thing, it’s true—does this make our expectations about everyday life too high? Rarely do we enter a restaurant without checking its Yelp score first, nor do we take a chance on a movie without checking Rotten Tomatoes. Would it be better, even for a moment, to get back to the basics? Back to the small joys and simple pleasures of life, that are so often forgotten now? I think so.
How Team Ayva Celebrates the Holiday
As families around the country gear up for Thanksgiving, we’re reminded of the importance of honoring traditions. Some families practice traditions upheld through centuries, while others begin new ones with their young children. Some traditions are happy accidents, like that time friends of ours ruined the turkey and had to order takeout: They liked it so much, it’s been done every year since (true story!). Other traditions are engrained in the food—grandma’s recipe for homemade gravy, a staple no matter what’s on the table, from fried turkey to vegan tofurkey to turducken.
We’ve all been hearing a lot about women in business: We’re fortunate to live in a time where women have the choices and opportunities to grow equally in a personal and professional manner, in industry and in family. But in the age of Lean In, there exists a notion that, not only can women have it all, but that they should—enter a tremendous feeling of pressure for many to succeed at all costs. That’s why it’s so important to Priyanka Kedia, founder and designer behind Ayva Jewelry, to highlight the ups and downs of being not only a woman in business, but a business-owning mom. In our Mothers in Business series, we’ll highlight the successes as much as the failures, go behind-the-scenes to discover what it’s like to get a venture off the ground while simultaneously bringing up a family, and follow women along in their journeys to their own versions of success. And we’ll start with our very own Priyanka, mother to three: Two young children, and her budding business, Ayva Jewelry.
